Green Tea Cheescake

 Green Tea Cheesecake

I drew this picture some time ago, and since then I've decided to change the shape from one round cake to small individual squares. I only have about 15 items left to make in my baking experiments. Soon I'm going to re-arrange my menu and start my cake portfolio.

Earl Grey Chocolate Mousse Cake

The mousse is made with cream of earl grey tea. with a middle layer of white chocolate cream and cashews.

A dark chocolate brownie on the bottom.

This cake is very creamy and extremely decadent, and tastes sort of like a latte.

The whole cake is finished  off with dark chocolate medallions and white chocolate flowers.

Something a bit different 5

Earl Grey Mousse Cake

This tea inspired mousse cake is going to be my experiment for this week. I'm going for clean, even layers, starting with a rich chocolate brownie layer on the bottom, Vanilla and pecan cream filling, and velvety smooth earl grey mousse.

Vanilla Angel Food Cake

First of all let me apologize for my poor pictures. I haven't set up a spot yet to take blog pictures.

This is my first attempt at an angel food cake. Overall it when according to plan an tastes great.

I left it upside down, and it almost came out of the pan to easily because the side collapsed a little bit.

Oh well has long as it turned out tasty I'm happy. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take a picture tomorrow of a slice with the whipped cream on top!

Something A Little Different

Since moving to B.C. I defiantly have less friends to pawn my desserts off on. So until I can finish the half eaten coffee cake sitting on my counter, my baking will be on hold.

I started doodling  pictures of the next couple things I intend on baking.

Let's see how long I can keep up the pattern of drawing, followed by pictures of the actual baked item.

First up is an angel food cake.

I've never made one before, so this will be an experiment. The plan is to make a vanilla angel food cake with an orange cream on the side.

Hopefully the post following this one will be of the actual angel food cake.

Baby Powder is Relocating!

No cake pictures?

That is because... I am relocating to beautiful British Columbia. That's right, from GTA cross country in just a few weeks.

I am realizing now that buying what I thought, was a life time supply of flour and vanilla extract, may not have been the best idea. I am struggling to make anything to use up what I have left without purchasing new ingredients.

No one seems to like the idea of whole wheat flour seaweed cakes.

But don't despair!

I will pick up mid September and will continue to take orders and commissions.  So i

f you live in the Okanagan area you are in luck!

I am sad to leave my old clients behind (like Michelle), I look forward to making new ones. So please browse my pricing list, or email me at laura.dalimonte@gmail.com with any questions.

...I can't resist a parting cupcake shot.

Durian Cake and Matcha Green Tea Cupcakes

Durian Cream Cake with creamy whipped icing.

Not being a fan of durian myself I would have never attempted this cake unless someone ordered it specifically. The fruit itself has a such a strong odor that every time I opened the refrigerator, I could smell the cake through its container. But it seems like those who love it, really love it, and don't mind subjecting their friends to its pungent smell.

However the cake did turn out stunningly tall and sturdy, and the cream went on smoothly. I even started thinking I wanted to try a slice.

Along with the cake was an order for half a dozen chocolate, green tea cupcakes. These turned out pretty tasty. I made my regular chocolate cupcake recipe and put in a tablespoon of matcha powder into the batter. Then made a matcha  butter cream, by heating up the milk, sugar and matcha powder and  letting cool, before stirring in the butter. ( And a little food dye because it was sort of, "off brown")

I love the look of this cake. I'll defiantly have to try it again with a flavour I'm fond of.
